Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome

Also known as Willis-Ekbom disease. A condition that causes someone to have an intense compulsion to move their legs, especially in the evening, while sitting or lying down. Generally worsens with age. It is known to also occur during sleep and wake up those affected by it causing decreased sleep quality.

Stretching, walking, or generally exercising the legs before bed or when one notices the oncoming urge to move their legs can help deter the intensity of RLS.

It seems to have some hereditary properties, and geneticists have identified chromosomes associated with its development.
